On 6/18/22, the Burke County EMA was dispatched to assist a laceration incident. As the EMS crew arrived on scene, they found a man laying face up in the yard with Deputy Gould and Deputy Correa rendering aid to him.
Deputy Gould had applied a tourniquet and was wrapping a large open wound on the man's calve with a padded pressure dressing. A large amount of blood was lost on scene and the man began to show signs of shock when he was loaded into the unit.
The EMA team believes that had Deputy Gould not applied a tourniquet and pressure bandage on the man's leg, that he would have most likely bled to death before EMS arrived.
Thank you, Deputy Gould, for not only thinking fast in an urgent situation, but for actually taking action and doing whatever it took to save this man's life. You are a true Servant Officer and we applaud you for your heroic act of service. Keep it up! It is officers like you who give great honor to the law enforcement profession.
