Why Your 'Why' Matters

Feb 21, 2024

It is incredibly important for each leader and each person for that matter to have a personal 'WHY'.

What gets you out of bed in the morning? What keeps you going when you don't feel like it? What kind of legacy do you want to leave behind? That is your 'WHY'.

Knowing your 'WHY' creates 4 things: Conviction, Courage, Confidence, and Commitment.

1) Conviction

Knowing your 'WHY' creates an automatic feeling inside of you that pushes you to do whatever it takes to do the right thing. It becomes that voice inside of you that ignites action and true effort in what you do, every single day.

2) Courage

Knowing your 'WHY' gives you the courage to do things you may not normally do out of fear or self doubt. It creates a sense of courage within you, because your ultimate goal is to help the greater good, so anything that tries to hold you back is trumped by the significance of your 'WHY'.

3) Confidence

Knowing your 'WHY' automatically gives you confidence in what you are doing, because you don't have to think twice about it. When you know what you stand for and what you are trying to accomplish in your life, you have a sense of stability and purpose within you that naturally exudes confidence.

4) Commitment

Knowing your 'WHY' creates an automatic sense of commitment to something bigger than yourself.Your 'WHY' is not just something you accomplish one time and then forget about it; your 'WHY' is something that keeps you going when you don't feel like it and keeps pushing you forward.

When you know your 'WHY', you have a sense of purpose. When you know your 'WHY', you can push past fear. When you know your 'WHY', you have something strong to stand on (or even fall back on). When you know your 'WHY', you do not let anything get in the way of you getting the job done.

If you do not have a 'WHY' or if you have not taken the time to sit down and determine what your 'WHY' is, take the time right now to do that so you can better equip yourself for being the best you can be in order to fulfill your purpose and help others fulfill theirs, as well.
