Opportunities

Mar 15, 2023

How many opportunities have you turned down or ignored due to fear getting in your way? Fear can be so debilitating that it keeps you from doing anything that might actually benefit you. Of course an opportunity may present itself and due to certain priorities in your life you have to let it pass you by, but a lot of opportunities are missed due to fear.

An opportunity will more than likely present itself when we are least ready for it, when we are least expecting it, and when we are least prepared for it:

WHEN WE ARE LEAST READY FOR IT:

You are never going to be ready for an opportunity when it presents itself. That's why it is called an 'opportunity'. It happens whether you are ready for it or not! Once it makes itself known, it is up to you on whether you are willing to take it or leave it. Since you will most likely never be ready for an opportunity though, why let the fear of not being ready keep you from pushing yourself through fear of the unknown into something that could potentially change your life for the better?! You are never truly ready for anything in life, so give it your best shot and you may surprise yourself and end up in a much better place than before the opportunity arrived.

WHEN WE ARE LEAST EXPECTING IT:

They are called 'opportunities' because they appear when you least expect it; without a warning or even a clear announcement. Sometimes they come about at the most random time or at a time when you never thought something like it could possibly happen. When we are faced with unexpected incidents in our lives, sometimes those are the best moments for true emotion and a genuine response - so take advantage of the raw feelings you get once an opportunity presents itself and go with your gut! You may be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

WHEN WE ARE LEAST PREPARED FOR IT:

Because opportunities arise whenever we least expect it, there is no way you can ever be prepared for it. That's why people usually pass up opportunities, because they would rather be prepared for whatever comes their way as opposed to jumping into something blind. Don't let the fact that you are not prepared keep you from taking advantage of an opportunity. The best times of growth are when we are pushed past our limits or when we are uncomfortable. So don't let the uneasy feeling of not being prepared for something stop you from going after something you genuinely feel could be good for you!

Not all opportunities are going to lay at your feet. You have to actually look for opportunities in order to take full advantage of them. If something is practically given to you, that's not an opportunity - that's a gift. So be on the lookout for opportunities and take full advantage of them when they appear.

Ask the question, make the call, send the email, write the letter, book the trip, buy the thing, schedule the meeting, etc. Take advantage of the time you have when you have it. There may never be an opportunity to do it again. So don't let fear stop you from accepting the opportunity and doing what needs to be done to take it!

Have a great rest of the week and remember to always #BeSignificant in everything you do!
