Check In With Your People
Feb 07, 2024As a leader, it is your responsibility to make sure your team and/or the organization is functioning as best as it can at all times. Of course there are going to be moments or even times where things may not be at their best, but as long as they do not last for a long period of time, that is going to happen.
Like I have said many times before, you have to put people before the task. If you focus on the task itself and only the task, you forget the value of the person and limit the actual quality of the task itself, which will not produce the best results. Your people need to come first.
In order for the team and/or the organization to be successful, you need to check in with your people.
WHAT IT DOES:
1) It makes them feel cared for, which in turn creates a sense of security for them that automatically pushes them to be their best.
2) It creates a relationship of trust between you and them, which will then make it easier for them to not only listen to you, but to also follow you.
3) It motivates them to continually grow and push themselves to get better, because they know you are rooting for them and they do not want to let you or the team and/or the organization down.
WHY IT MATTERS:
1) When your people feel cared for, when they trust you, and when they feel motivated, they will collectively perform at their very best and the organization will flourish.
2) It creates a better work environment for everyone. When people are happy at their workplace, it shows in their interactions with others and in their overall attitude.
3) The organization as a whole will automatically generate momentum that will push everyone to achieve the desired goal or goals.
So make sure you are checking in with your people. Spending time with each employee is an investment that will result in a more cohesive team and will improve the value of the organization.
