The Momentum Effect
Aug 30, 2023"A lot of people never reach success in their life because they never get to the phase of momentum."
Momentum is more than just a strength of force or a constant action in one standard direction; it is what we should all strive for in anything we do in life. When you reach momentum, you not only get things done, but you also develop a form of energy that motivates you to keep going.
There are 3 things momentum does: it embodies consistency, it creates opportunities, and it ensures success. Consistency = Opportunities = Success.
CONSISTENCY: I'm sure we have all been told at one point or another in our lives that, "Consistency is key". Well, it's true! If you want to lose weight, being consistent in your diet and exercise routine will develop results. If you want to pass a test, being consistent in your studying will develop results. If you want to get better at something, being consistent in your practice and learning will develop results. So being consistent with anything in your life is always going to take you where you want to go, as long as you don't give up. Momentum is a form of consistency due to the fact that it doesn't stop, it keeps going, and it doesn't let anything get in its way. If you are not consistent in your actions and your energy towards something, then momentum ceases to exist.
OPPORTUNITIES: If you are on the path of momentum, opportunities will just happen. When you are extremely focused on something and continually work towards a goal or end result in mind, you are going to come across situations or distractions that either get in the way or cause you to feel discouraged, but those are opportunities for you to grow! Instead of seeing a setback as a negative thing, see it as a challenge or a growth opportunity to either learn something new or to even test your limits. We cannot get better if we are not open to growing as a person, so when you have momentum and get hit with something unexpected that could easily put a stop to things, don't let it - take a pause to evaluate the situation and then keep moving forward.
SUCCESS: Success does not happen over night. Success takes time, success takes effort, and success takes commitment. When you reach the phase of momentum and you keep going, even when it gets hard, that will prove how committed you are. Momentum does not mean, "only push yourself until you get bad news or until things get hard"; momentum means you keep giving it your all, no matter what. Once you get done with one thing, do the next thing, and the next thing, and the next. Do not let yourself get lazy and say, "I'll get to that tomorrow." Putting things off puts a halt on momentum and causes you to have to start all over again to reach the same energy that was fueling you to keep going.
Momentum not only pushes you to get things done, but it benefits you and the organization in the long run. You develop consistency, you face growth opportunities, and you ultimately reach success.
Momentum can be a hard place to reach, but if you are passionate enough and you see the bigger picture, you can and you will get there as long as you:
1) Don't let things slow you down.
2) Push yourself to be better.
3) Focus on the end result.
I hope this has helped you and that it gives you the motivation and/or the encouragement to keep going after your dreams, your goals, and/or your purpose. We all have dreams, we all goals, and we all have a purpose; don't let anything get in the way of that. You are in charge of your actions and reactions. Keep the momentum going and you will not only be better off for it, but you will do some amazing things!
